EDGEWATER FLOATING BEACH

ARCHITECT: TAMARA DESPUJOLS

The Edgewater Floating Beach project is an urban intervention that proposes the expansion of the sea edge in Edgewater in order to create a “beach coast” that could benefit not only the Edgewater area, but also the entire city of Miami.

The proposed design incorporates a series of floating piers that will be turn into beaches by allocating sand spaces, pools, hamacarios, cafes and other type of entertainment areas like open air auditorium, walkways and beach tennis.

Today, the relationship between inland Miami and the sea is only visual, benefitting mostly the waterfront properties. This situation prevents the Miami community to grow as a seaside city and enjoy the benefits of its coastal geography.
